On some frigid of weekend morns, I sometimes sought refuge at The Chastain, that establishment where a gentleman may warm his bones by the hearth and commune with his coffee as if it were an old friend with no unpleasant opinions. Yet on this occasion, my companion and I, emboldened by hunger and optimism, elected to partake in their celebrated brunch. Rumors had wafted through society regarding the grandeur of The Cheeseburger. Thus persuaded, we ordered it along with the classic, Eggs Benedict. The burger arrived in such heroic proportion. Well seasoned and undeniably gourmet, it was as impressive in price as it was in circumference. The Eggs Benedict, meanwhile, rather proved a delightful diversion too, a triumph in flavor for sure although the portions were not. Our waiter, performed his duties with such grace and good cheer that I nearly forgave the entire establishment for what followed. For, alas, the process, that infernal machinery of reservations and table arrangements, was thrown into utter disarray. Though we awaited the customary summons via text, none came. We were left to inquire of our own fate. Chaos reigned, as though brunch itself were a battlefield. Furthermore, nearly the whole expanse of the restaurant had been conscripted into brunch service, leaving nary a dry seat outdoors for the humble coffee seeking wanderer. The chairs, still soaked from the recent rains, were left unattended, as if the staff had surrendered them to the elements with a sigh and a shrug. One expects, at an establishment of The Chastain’s repute and the coins they demand for their service, at least a passing relationship with a towel.
Went for brunch. It was a nice experience. Professional and friendly service. Food was good but not memorable. I probably wouldn’t return given the traffic nightmare to get there. They offer complimentary valet parking as the only parking option. They have a kids menu with $12-15 entrees. Make reservations or expect to wait for a table in the dining room. Outdoor seating appears to be first come first serve. They allow dogs outside so there are tons of dogs on the patio.
The food, service and ambience are all amazing. We will be regulars at this restaurant. We are new to Sandy Springs/ Atlanta and have tried a lot of restaurants in the last 4 months and this is easily the best. The burger is a good as advertised. The halibut with the chanterelles mushrooms was epic. We shared the sweet potatoes and each tried a dessert. All were delicious. The service is top notch. Even the valet were very friendly and efficient.
This was the best cheeseburger ever! They make everything themselves, the bread, ketchup, aioli sauce, homemade fries, EVERYTHING! Emilee Durrett was super friendly and came by to ask what I thought about my meal, to which I gave TWO thumbs up! I later discovered that she is the General Manager of the restaurant. She made me feel right at home, even though I was underdressed for such an elegant restaurant. Best pre-concert meal EVER!
Our server Shawnna was super thorough w/ the menu and recommendations. The food, the atmosphere and the attention to detail were amazing! A wonderful dinner experience from start to finish … 10/10. A short walk to Chastain Park makes the Chastain a necessary part of an evening concert there!
The Chastain is easily one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. The food is incredible thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavor. Service is outstanding every time. Ben and Kameron took great care of us and made the whole night feel effortless. The smoked Ibérico ham was unreal, and the Damien Laureau Savennieres Roche Aux Moines pairing was perfect. Amazing hospitality, great wine, and a warm atmosphere. The Chastain definitely deserves a star in my opinion. Highly recommend!
We love starting our mornings at The Chastain after our two laps around the golf course. The ham, egg, and cheese (gruyère for me) never disappoints, and the dirty chai latte is excellent. Ask for Bryan ! his memory is impeccable! We hadn’t been in two weeks and he still remembered us, our order, and even the “to-go cup” for the dirty chai latte. Consistently great food, service, and vibes. Highly recommend!
I’ve been wanting to try this place out for months & was waiting on a special occasion to do so. My mom came into town, and I reserved a 7:45 dinner for us on a Sunday. My mom is a cook & is pretty critical of highly priced dishes, so I was a bit nervous she wouldn’t enjoy this. We ordered 4 courses: Sweet Potato Bisque, a single portion of Roasted Mushroom Campanelle, single portion of Veal Osso Buco, & the popular TC Cheeseburger. We shared them all, and it was PLENTY of food for the both of us. I am writing this now, 1.5 hrs later, still trying to digest. To keep things concise, we would order them all again, EXCEPT the burger. Yes, it’s as good as they say it is. But at the end of the day, it’s just a burger. There are more interesting options on this menu that are actually worthy of spending $34 on. Like the Sweet Potato Bisque & Veal dish. The two stand-outs of our course, judged partially by the amount of time we spent talking about them as we ate, trying to dissect each ingredient, so we can maybe try to replicate them at home. With these four dishes, we spent $105 excluding our 30% tip. Was it worth it? We both would say so, though the portions should be bigger at those prices. Was it filling? My mom got full by the end of the 3rd course. I would definitely come back here again for dinner to try the rest of this menu. Compliments to Chef Grossman. Other Notes: - Parking lots around Chastain Park are abundant if you know where to look. Valet parking is not necessary but it’s complimentary-ish (tips expected) with the reservation. - The atmosphere is great. Intimately lit, occasionally loud, but quiet enough for having conversation at a normal volume. Additionally, the bathrooms are nice & clean (but are single-person & there’s only two…?) - Hospitality was good overall. Our main waiter left more to be desired in regard to at least acting like he wanted to serve us, but his food recommendations were spot on.
